This present essay aims at discussing the role played by Giovanni Gentile's reform, which was based on the education program developed by Giuseppe Lombardo Radice that assigned a prominent space to dialects and regional culture. As a case study we will analyse the school textbook Il Friuli (1924) written by Lea D'Orlandi, which was written for Friulian pupils to spur an appreciation of their regional culture - food tradition included - as a vehicle for promoting national education.Downloads
