Abstract

The national aspect of legal language reflects the history and culture of a country. In fact, the translation between two legal systems becomes a comparative operation of law in order to transpose a message from one legal order to another. In our article, we propose to explore two aspects related to legal terminology and the translation process between two languages-cultures, French and Romanian in our case. More specifically, we aim at highlighting the cultural specificity of the denominations concerning the judicial institutions of the two legal systems, with a particular emphasis on the terminological choices made by specialized sites, glossaries and online databases. The tools of our analysis will be lexicographic research, consultation of the resources offered by the Web as well as comparative analysis of the French and Romanian judicial institutions.
