Abstract

Melancholy – or nostalgia – is a tipical state of mind of Modernity, specially of the period that runs from XIX to XX century – and of this beginning of XXI. It is possible to speculate that it is connected with the particular uncertainty that Self perceives in periods of violent social change. We can find its presence in novels, in movies, today in tv-series, because all these forms of art are particularly suitable in dramatizing human condition
