Abstract

“La Notte della taranta”: from investigation to perfomance, from music to show-biz. The author recreates the most significant moments in the history of the Notte della taranta, one of the most important festivals dedicate to traditional music in Europe. The festival, born in 1998, is organized by Istituto Carpitella; from 2010 this task is carried out by the Foundation La Notte della Taranta. Both institutions also have the purpose to encourage research activities, but almost all the economic resources are used to organize the big show.
