In questa lavoro si fa il punto sulle attuali conoscenze del fenomeno carsico in Sicilia.L’Autore, dopo una rassegna di carattere generale sulla storia della ricerca speleologica nell’isola, descrive le caratteristiche morfologiche del carsismo e le cavità più notevoli.

This work deals with illustration of state of knowledge of sicilian karst phenomena. First the Author introduces briefly a geomorphological description, then he points out a short reconstruction of speleological story in the island. In a second time the Author displays the surface and underground karst and he describes in detail the most important caves.
