Abstract

In the face of a contemporary world increasingly marked by regressive nostalgia, Ernst Bloch’s thought can provide the critical tools to trace the latency of the possible within the folds of the present. This paper offers an interpretation of the role of utopian imagination in Bloch's work, through three key moments: the theory of non-contemporaneity, the ontology of the not-yet, and the vision of history as a multiverse. Through this analysis, Bloch’s proposal emerges as a synthesis between the desiring dimension of utopia and concrete praxis, which derives from the interpretation of historical-material conditions. In this way, Bloch’s concrete utopia is able to heal the fracture between an unresolved past and a possible future, orienting the historical process toward the realization of the humanum.
