This paper analyses the utopia and the utopic imagination with the methodology of transcendental phenomenology, and the phenomenology of internal-time consciousness. It is sustained that utopia disposes consciousness to a bidirectional and mutually directive dimension of temporality between primal impression and protention. Hence, it is given phenomenological support to political and moral philosophies that engage utopia as an apparatus for understanding social injustices and contradictions, by arguing that imaginative anticipation of a better future unveils the transformative-emancipatory elements that already exist in the present. Finally, it is highlighted that the realization of utopia is expressed by the practical conditions and the free affective-motivational expressiveness of the lived-body.
