Abstract

This paper proposes a rethinking of utopia by freeing it from its reduction to a political-rational project or to a literary genre. From a hermeneutic perspective, utopia is interpreted as an event of impossibility, grounded in negativity and in the relation between space and time. Drawing on Heidegger’s method of thought and on a reinterpretation of Fourier, the paper outlines a shift from chrono-topology to topo-chronology, in which utopia takes shape as the relational occurrence of the otherwise within the concreteness of human existence and dwelling.
