Abstract

The city has always been a field of tension between the historical and the transcendental, and the urbanocene only emphasises the radical nature of this tension, as if it were a kind of original sin of human cities. The paper explores four issues relating to the urbanocene, which can be read separately but whose common thread will be immediately apparent to the reader. Finally, it attempts to put forward the hypothesis that it is necessary to activate the utopian core of the city against the loss of contemporary cities.
