The article deals with the archaeological activities promoted by the Centro di Studi Papirologici, and, in particular, with the results of the excavations at Dime es-Seba/Soknopaiou Nesos (Fayyum). New discoveries are changing the traditional perspective according to which the community living in this settlement was lightly affected by Hellenistic and Roman culture and was thus different from the other villages and towns of the region.
