Abstract

This paper offers a new edition of the funerary inscription of Leo, bishop of an uncertain see in Phrygia (Lysias or Otrous?). The inscription, which is thought to come from Yanikören, is now located in Hüdai Kaplicasi (Sandikli, Turkey). A palaeographical analysis and a new reading of the inscription allow us to reconcile the apparently conflicting chronological data offered by the previous editions, and to find out the correct date (February 9th, 1059 AD; 12th indiction).
