Abstract

Starting from a shrines mapping of Puglia we will try to reconstruct a symbolic geography that is both shared social memory of the sacred history of the places and, in the some time, experiences of individual religious practices, that connect the individual in a personal and intimate relationship with the gods. We will address two issues. The first concerns the relationship between body / memory / rituals. This relationship will be explored from the rituals organized around the cult of La Madonna del Pozzo of Capurso, a shrine located in a little town of south Italy. The second issue concerns the relationship between sanctuaries, body e guarigione. We can see, as the mapping of microcircuits of pilgrimage reshape the area like a body that found its integrity in the healing symbolic journey.
