This paper explores the dual nature of ancient music performance, understood both as a practice of experimental archaeology for the reconstruction of past sonic events and as an artistic act with an independent aesthetic value. Recognizing the intrinsic fragmentation of archaeological data, the research proposes a synthesis between methodological rigor and contemporary sensibility, imagining the performative act as a cultural "translation". The goal is to make the sonic message intelligible and emotionally effective for a modern audience, fostering an active valorisation of the archaeomusicological heritage. This is the approach I employed in my performance, where, alongside the interpretation of original fragments, I combined new compositions based on the stylistic canons of ancient Greek music.
