Abstract

In Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte", the librettist Lorenzo da Ponte's choice of two protagonist officers disguised as Albanian aristocrats can be read both in relation to the taste of the time for turquerie, and also as connected to his wide historical and cultural perspective.
