Strategia del ragno. La Taranta nella scena musicale contemporanea

Abstract

The tambourine with a spider drawn on the drumhead is the symbol of Salento, the Notte della Taranta, and the re-discovery of a rural folk tradition, totally re-invented starting from the historical or mythical data available. An unprecedented iconic as well as marketing success in today’s Italy, which has motivated the Salentine musicians to question and tackle the challenge brought on by the musical languages of the modern age such as rock, jazz, and contemporary composition.
