Abstract

The author reconstructs the events which led to the creation and production of the musical event called La notte della taranta (The Night of the tarantula), that is characterized by the revival of the traditional songs of the province of Lecce (Italy); it is revealed a skilful operation of cultural politics that has as its objective the use of the local musical heritage to promote the territory.
