A controversial debate among historians of English literature was aimed at determining which sources (travel reports, logbooks) Daniel Defoe has used and "betrayed" when he became interested in ocean adventures, settling on the coast of Madagascar several tales between the trilogy of Robinson Crusoe (1719) and the second volume of the History of pyrates (1728), but neglecting, culpably, perhaps, to tell the export of forced labor from Madagascar.Downloads
