Abstract

It is shown that any symplectic spread of symplectic dimension 2 corresponding to a flock of a quadratic cone is either Desarguesian or the Kantor-Knuth flock spread. The results of Thas-Payne, Ball and Brown connecting semifield flocks and symplectic spreads are also obtained algebraically.
