In this work we investigate how the Anglo-American world was present, paradoxically, in José Martí’s poetry, given that even though the Cuban poet lived in the United States, never stopped to consider them a danger for the Latin American countries. So, the assumption is that Martí was between two languages and two cultures apparently very far from each other. Other aspect we approach is the poetic model of Rubén Darío, certainly the main fomenter of Modernism in the New and the Old World.
