The work traces the features and characteristics of Greek-Romance bilingualism in the Terra d'Otranto of the past and present. It examines the main sociolinguistic issues that led to the current situation. Finally, it presents data from a lexical survey conducted in Calimera in 2014-2020 that documents hundreds of Greek words in the Romance dialect, confirming the fact that Greeks and Romance speakers often used a common lexicon, mirroring a linguistic life conducted in symbiosis.

Il lavoro ripercorre i tratti e le caratteristiche della diglossia greco-romanza nella Terra d'Otranto del passato e del presente ed esamina le principali questioni sociolinguistiche che hanno portato alla situazione attuale. Esso presenta infine i dati di un'inchiesta lessicale condotta a Calimera nel 2014-2020 che documenta centinaia di parole greche nel dialetto romanzo, a conferma del fatto che greci e romanzi usavano spesso un lessico comune, specchio di una vita linguistica condotta in simbiosi.
