The story tells about a young mechanic of the mid-nineteenth century who, thanks to a mysterious leap into the past, unexpectedly comes into possession of Leonardo's technical project about a bicycle and personally meets the same genius. Having realised the importance of the new means of locomotion, the mechanic works on its production together with colleagues from other countries, realizing that Leonardo himself would also agree about making it a means of transport and above all of knowledge among peoples.

Il racconto immagina che un giovane meccanico di metà Ottocento, grazie ad un misterioso salto nel passato, giunga inaspettatamente in possesso del progetto tecnico di Leonardo sulla bicicletta e incontri personalmente lo stesso genio. Compresa l'importanza del nuovo mezzo di locomozione, il meccanico si adopera per la sua realizzazione insieme a colleghi di altre Nazioni, intuendo che anche Leonardo sarebbe convenuto nel farne uno strumento di viaggio e soprattutto di conoscenza tra i popoli.
