The essay takes stock of the four-year project "One hundred years ago ... the Great War", after describing its characteristics, methods of realization and objectives. The most important novelty was the research methodology of public history, which responded to a need for a story from below and allowed the sharing of both research and the results obtained.

Il saggio fa un bilancio del progetto quadriennale "Cento anni fa...la Grande Guerra", dopo averne descritto caratteristiche, modalità di realizzazione e obiettivi. La novità più importante è stata la metodologia di ricerca della public history, che ha risposto ad un bisogno di storia dal basso e ha permesso la condivisione sia della ricerca che dei risultati ottenuti.
