The contribution examines the interpretative use of the work of the Galateo that was done after death: some wanted to underline the fact that his work exalts the geographical and cultural typicality of Salento, talatri, like Bonifacio, have decided to propose Galateo as a forerunner of the Reformation. The investigation by De Educatione and Heremita shows the polemical force with which Galateo denounced both the arrogance of the Spanish sovereign over the Italic peoples and the betrayal of the Gospel message made by the Church of Rome.

Il contributo prende in esame l'uso interpretativo che del Galateo fu fatto già all'indomani della sua morte: c'è chi lo volle ascrivere alla rivendicazione della tipicità geografica e culturale del Salento, c'è chi invece, come Bonifacio, pensò bene di proporlo come precursore della Riforma. L'indagine del De Educatione e dell'Heremita mostra la vis polemica del Galateo che denunciò sia la superbia del dominatore spagnolo sia il tradimento del messaggio evangelico operato dalla Chiesa di Roma.
