Abstract

The essay deals with the theme of Salento soldiers who fell on the field in the First World War and were buried in the most important military shrines between Veneto, Trentino and Friuli Venezia Giulia. After a focus on the history of the shrines, we examine the case of a small municipality of Capo di Leuca, Gagliano del Capo, hired as a specimen of the whole of Salento.
