Abstract

The great Jewish writer Aron Appelfeld was a survivor of the Shoah. He recounted the experience of children, first in their native places, then in the woods to escape capture, and finally in Israel. Through the story of these young Jews, torn from their families, Appelfeld builds his poetics that takes the reader into the most intimate meanders of Jewish tragedy, finding in art the most suitable tool to describe the indescribable.
